Bio

Ruth is a transformative leader who believes in the immense power that lies within young people. She served as the 87th Guild Representative Councillor for the School of law at Makerere University as well as the Students’ Guild Minister for Gender, Ethics and Integrity. I have a commendable track record on Administration, Program management and supervision, Transformational leadership, community development and capacity building. I am also actively engaged in influencing the quality of education especially for the girl child in the most vulnerable communities. She is an alumnae of various leadership programmes such as; The Global Youth Leadership programme Forum for Women in Leadership Training Programme, FES-Young Leaders Program, African Women Leadership Institute by Akina Mama wa Afrika among others In 2019, she has a number of campaigns such as the anti-sexual harassment campaign in Makerere under Akina Mama Wa Afrika with support from UN Women. The campaign against Fistula and child pregnancies in Busoga during her Miss Tourism Busoga tenure. She currently chairs the Working group on social Justice and Democracy at the Young African Activists Network and hopes to gain knowledge and skills on public policy influencing and institutional strengthening through the Leadership Advancement Program. Ruth believes that the sustainability of any development efforts is highly dependent on how young people are involved in the policy making process.
